Wild Night: Karamu 2009

April 20, 2009   |   the Events   |   Comments

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo's annual black tie gala is known for it's lavish theme, extensive decor and outstanding cuisine. Karamu, from the Swahili word "party," has raised nearly $2.4 million for animal care and education programs at the zoo over the last 20 years. The event was held at Lowry Park's brand-new Safari Lodge. A unique, upscale venue located right in the heart of the zoo.

After doing the event in 2006, i was a little hesitant at first, because it is a TON of work. Kelly Feldman, better known as my BFF, was the event chair this year however and i couldn't say no. And WOW did she do an AMAZING job!! I was named decor chair along with my pal Enrique Crespo. I think that this is an event I am particularly proud of and my event team of SUPER vendors really made me, Kelly, and the zoo shine.

The vendors that helped make this event fantastic included:

Event Planning and Design: Brooke Palmer, RSBP Events
Invitations and signage: Amy Willoughby, Not From a Box
Lighting: Lowry Park Zoo's Lighting Designer, Carson (WHO is a ROCKSTAR!)
Florals: Ian Prosser, Botanica
Photography: Aaron Lockwood
